Will SCU consider opening a branch in the San Gabriel or San Fernando Valley area?
Prior to opening our most recent new branch in Long Beach in late 2018, we conducted a geographical analysis of our membership. This analysis helped us to determine the best location for a new branch based on where our Members reside. At the time, we concluded that Long Beach was a very good location for a new branch because we have a high concentration of Members already living in the area.
We continue to perform regular assessments of our membership to determine potential new branch locations. At this time, we have no immediate plans to open a new location, with the exception of our branch on the California State University, Long Beach campus. We already have a strong partnership with the University and the campus space became available to us. In addition to evaluating areas where our Members reside, there are several other factors that are considered when looking at new branch locations, and we always look forward to reviewing our options for future growth.
In the meantime, I encourage you to utilize our new Digital Banking channels or a CO-OP Shared Branch near you. Thank you for the question and for your membership in Southland!
Viewing all my linked accounts online is confusing to me. Why did Southland make this change and how can I make it easier to handle my accounts online?
In July, we made a change to the way Members view linked accounts to streamline access for primary and joint Members. If you are a joint owner on other accounts at Southland, you can now view and transact with those accounts in Digital Banking. We made this change to make it easier for Members to manage all their accounts in one place. This change also enables us to allow joint owners to register for their own set of credentials for Digital Banking.
If you are feeling overwhelmed by the number of accounts you see in your Digital Banking dashboard, here are a few things you can do:
In Settings, navigate to the Accounts tab. Click the pencil icon next to the account you wish to edit. From here, you can:
Customize the display name of the account to something you prefer.
Change the tab color of the account to color code your individual accounts and other joint accounts.
Check the “Hide this Account” checkbox to hide the account from view. You can always come back to undo this later.
As always, I sincerely thank you for your Southland membership! I hope our new Digital Banking enhances your banking experience with us!
