Your right to keep Courtesy Pay overdraft protection
An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your checking account to cover a check, ATM withdrawal, or debit card purchase. You may already have overdraft protection from your Savings Account or maybe a Line of Credit, but what happens if you do not have the funds available in your accounts? Right now the Credit Union pays the transaction anyway. Most overdrafts are due to simple errors. It can happen to anyone, but overdrafts can be costly and even embarrassing.
Overdraft protection can save you on costly late fees, merchant charges, and even prevent the inconvenience and embarrassment of having your purchase declined. You currently enjoy this protection at Southland; however, changes in federal regulations require you to opt-in to continue to have us pay overdrafts on your ATM and everyday debit card transactions.
If you would like Southland to pay overdrafts on your ATM and everyday debit card transactions, opt-in by completing the form. If you do not opt-in, those transactions will be declined. Regardless whether you opt-in or not, your paper checks and recurring electronic transactions are still automatically covered if you qualify. There is no fee to opt-in; you are charged only if you use the service.
