New Year...New Look...New Enhancements

Launched January 2018

As we start a new year, we are excited about the opportunities we have to enhance our Members’ online and mobile banking experience. Last year our eServices team worked diligently on integrating our online, mobile, and bill pay services onto one banking platform. "Merging these services into one system will allow us to provide our Members with one seamless experience," says Jose Loera, eServices Manager. "With more and more Members using their phones vs computers, we want to bring our Members more functionality to their mobile app." With the launch of 4X, Southland’s Online and Mobile Banking will not only share the same look, it will offer the same experience. If you are not already a Mobile Banking user, you can download the Southland App from the Google Play or Apple App stores. Our current mobile users will also need to update their app. App users will receive a notification when the update is available. Once updated, new features will be available. New features available will include:

  • Tiled Homepage – Working tiles are mobile friendly and offer shortcuts to transactions most used on mobile banking, allowing Members to customize the layout.
  • Touch ID for iOS App - After update, go into the Account Management section and enable Touch ID. Once enabled, Touch ID and Facial Recognition will work.

"I am excited for the year ahead. We have a number of features and enhancements that will be rolling out this year, that I know our Members are going to love," says Jose. The deployment of 4X will allow our eServices Department to add the features and enhancements that our Members have been asking for. Future enhancements include:

  • Card Services – Activate your Southland cards, set card alerts, parental controls, spending limits, block and unblock your Southland Card, and more.
  • Individual Sign On – Sign on with your own unique user name and password. Any and all accounts you have, primary or joint, will be provided. This will allow you the convenience of viewing all your accounts and the ability to transfer between multiple account numbers.
  • Alert Enhancements – Stay on top of your account activity. Alert enhancements will also include real-time transactions and the option for text alerts.

What is new in Theme4x?

What is the functionality of the tiles?

The function of the tiles is to create a shortcut or an interactive space where you can quickly fulfill a function. For example, the "Make a Transfer" tile allows you to quickly make a transfer without having to go to the Transfers section of Online Banking. Tiles are also the industry standard for online services apps.

Is my old Home Screen still there?

Yes, simply hover over Accounts, then click on Account Summary.

What happens if I hide or delete a tile?

No problem, go to Settings, click Reset Visibility, then click Ok. All your tiles will return to the original screen.

What is Manage Touch ID?

This section allows you to have control over which devices have been authorized to login to the mobile app using Touch ID. A member can choose to add or delete a specific device from that list. (Example: if they lost or no longer have a particular device) First update your Southland App for Touch ID to be available. Under the Account Management section, select Manage TouchID.

Do I need to delete and download a new app?

No. You will however, need to update your existing app. You will find an update will be available in your app store.

Is fingerprint login available for my Android phone?

Fingerprint authorization is not available for Android phones today, but will be available within the next few months.

popmoney Personal Payment Service

Sending and receiving money with Popmoney® personal payment service is as easy as sending an e-mail or text message. Use your Southland account to pay or receive money from just about anyone, with no need to write a check, exchange account numbers or carry cash.

It's similar to PayPal, where you can send money using just an e-mail address. But Popmoney has the added convenience of being right inside your password-protected online Southland account.

It's simple to get started. Log in to online banking or open your mobile banking app and go to the "Popmoney" tab.

Sending Popmoney is as easy as 1-2-3!

1.     Enter the recipient's name, e-mail address and/or cellphone number, and the dollar amount. You don’t need to ask them for their routing or account number.

2.     An e-mail or text message automatically notifies the recipient.

3.     The recipient then securely enters their account information.

That's it— the money is then deposited directly into the account that the recipient chooses! Requesting money is just as easy. Simply click on the request money tab and follow the same steps.
